Poison

I drunk the poison from her lips

My heart from my chest violently rips

Left earth a corpse, tumbled from the sky

Wounded bleeding with anguished cry

Fell into the arms of voiceless mountains

Icy waters splashed from fountains

A statue glistened in the afternoon Sun

The grave gate became undone

Death stepped in with a sly smile

A trophy to add to her grotesque pile

I stood staring at the statue, aghast

It was mirror image and I was the cast

Vultures hovered over my head

Screeching loudly; you are dead

With one last defiant move

All earthly doubts I will remove

I struck with vengeance at Death

Consuming her in my fiery breath

Death was dead, now I rise

A Phœnix from my ashy demise

Wings spread wide engulfing the Sun

Proud of what my heart had done

I have drunk the poison, now I am dead

Walked the path no one dares tread

I became the song of the wind when it blew

The wrath of gods and men I knew

To become a Phoenix in the Sun’s domain

To live forever and endure the Pain
