Sister
My dear Sister, a secret in shadows kept
Born when our mother was young, she silently wept
She kept me in my father’s warm embrace
Hidden in a different world, unknown place
From a past concealed, a life I could not share,
Yet the blood that binds us, a truth so rare.
To share the love within my heart, this tale I must impart,
The painful journey of my life, right from the start.
Two children by my side, endless joy they bring,
The adventures we'd have had, the songs we'd sing.
I yearned to take you soaring, 'cross the Appalachian sky,
To dance with the musty clouds up high
I longed to take you flying, guide you to explore
Show you the Bald Eagle’s nest where freedom soars
Though choices our mother made kept us worlds apart,
Know that you are always in my heart
A brother's love, enduring and sincere,
If only you could know, my sister, if only you were near.
If only she had been brave, to break lies’ tether,
We might have had the chance, to be siblings together.
