Goddess of the Sea

Breath of the gods blowing my ship
Ever forward on this fateful trip
Drifting along with the mighty wave
Rolling and tossing in a watery grave
What fate was mine, what horrible blow
My ship capsized, who decreed this woe
I gasp for air to fill my burning lung
To a statue bust I have wildly clung
Memories float in my drifting mind
I have this miraculous statue designed
Her face from my own heart I engraved
Embedded with ice and fire, I braved
The storm and battled the rising tide
Maybe it would be best if I had died
I felt a faint breath, the statue stirred
A vision flashed before my eyes blurred
Imbued with the spirit of the gods it spoke
Before it curled like a plume of smoke
Around me and swallowed my spirit whole
I am Death, she said, I want your soul
Gladly, take it and end this intolerable pain
In your depths I will drown, never to rise again
