Mayday

 Mayday Mayday

Up, to the boundless skies, to the endless blue

My silver wings carried me high as I flew

My craft climbed to embrace the rising Sun

Rainbow of lights swirled and joined as one

With speed I climb, into the turbulent air

As high as my restless spirit would dare

Chasing the wind, hovering in a celestial dance

The clouds around me float as if in a trance

I left the Earth behind to disappear in shame

The sky beckons me, a flickering flame

My soul longs to break the surly bonds

Atop the mountain peaks, and soar beyond

My wings are washed with the beams of the sun

Alas my flying days are finally done

As the Elysian Field before me Unfold

I know that my plane had mechanically stalled

Full thrust, pitch down; that is the norm

The plane shakes and flies into the raging storm

Mayday, Mayday. Now, I will meet my fate

No grave for an Eagle, only a nest at the gate

Of immortality, as I transform with grace

Into a majestic Eagle, my destiny will embrace

While in silence, the Angels softly trod

I climbed into the heavens to touch the face of god
