Dragon King

 The Dragon King

In ages past, in vast azure skies,

A Dragon King ruled, just and wise.

Before mankind's dominion reigned,

Earth's guardian, skies he'd wove and gained.

With scales of sapphire, wings that soared,

He watched o'er nature, all adored.

Yet as humans grew in greed and might,

He chose to watch and not to fight.

For he, with heart both kind and just,

Knew the power not to harm or mistrust.

In a celestial cave, his realm confined,

He watched Earth's beauty slowly unwind.

As creatures dwindled, forests fell,

He wept in silence, a hidden spell.

His tears as rain fell to the ground,

Gentle, lest the Earth be drowned

For he'd sworn to keep the peace,

To let mankind's growth increase.

Though he could heal and mend the land,

He feared his strength in human hands.

So, there he stays, a prisoner's fate,

In celestial solitude, he will eternally wait.

The azure dragon, kind and wise,

Still dreams of clear cerulean skies.

He lingers in his celestial cave,

To watch Earth’s fate, a solemn grave.

For if his might he dared employ,

To save Earth’s creatures, to deploy,

His ancient strength on humankind,

They'd wither, die or just go blind.

So in his cave he remains confined,

As Earth laments his absence, maligned.

A celestial prisoner bound to blame,

Humans as the Earth goes up in flame.
