Goddess of the Hunt

The Wolf and the Moon
Poison lurks beneath dark waters
Roses burn in a crimson slaughter
The forest is still songbirds are silent
Lions hunker down no longer violent
The trees tremble, the blades of grass
In heavy shadows twirl and pass
Distant hills rock and shudder
Like a ship without a ruder
The horses neigh and prance
Dryads around the fire dance
A youth by the beautiful nymphs lured
The wrath of the gods he secured
An arrow cleaved its stealthy way
Into his heart, with glazing eyes he lay
Ready to embrace death, he stood
On the shore of lake Diana of the Wood
He heard her voice upon the storm
Air gushed around him and took ethereal form
The graceful nymphs, the deer, and the hound
She appeared, her head with roses crowned
My Goddess, he said with a trembling voice
For your pain, I will give you a choice
She said and extended her graceful hand
Your death was not what I have planned
He accepted the hand with a smile
This how salvation will be after a while
I chose to turn into a Wolf and lead the pack
The goddess was stunned, taken aback
My heart longs for the eternal hunt
For my indiscretion I will bear the brunt
I am the goddess of the hunt, so mote it be
You will lead the pack for whole eternity
A hunter loyal, fierce, and proud
With fangs and claws to be endowed
My eternal love, I will join you soon
That is why I howl to the moon
