Once a Pilot
Upon wings of dreams, I took my first flight,
Through boundless skies, in sheer delight.
Above the world, I soared so high,
A pilot's passion, reaching for the sky.
But fate's cruel hand, it dealt its blow,
An illness came, my wings laid low.
I had to retire, my heart was broken
No longer in the cockpit, pain unspoken
Yet, in my heart, an Eagle’s spirit soars,
Though grounded now, my soul explores.
For once I've tasted flight's sweet grace,
I'll always look upwards, to that endless space.
The heavens beckon, stars up high,
My dreams take flight, across the sky.
Though illness clipped my wings, it's true,
My love for the skies forever grew.
With memories of those daring days,
I'll gaze above in countless ways.
For once a pilot, always, it seems,
I'll find my solace in the realm of dreams.
