Nightmare Flight

 Nightmare's Flight

In dreams that mimic skies aglow,

A pilot's dread begins to grow.

Ascending high, the flames ignite,

Passengers' screams pierce the night.

The fire dances, consuming air,

Cabin’s inferno, passengers’ despair.

Doors sealed shut, like a shroud

Their cries in flames, echo aloud

No safe path to the distant shore,

Nor over homes, an anguish roar.

A plunge into the ocean's deep,

A choice so stark, it makes hearts weep.

A burden that takes a heavy toll

Decision made in flames’ control

The ocean below is my final goal

A tragic end to my aerial role

Awakening then, drenched in fear,

Sweat mimicking the ocean's tear.

Not salt, but dread that leaves its trace,

A nightmare's flight, an eerie chase.
